HARBIN ATTRACTIONS

Sun Island - Sun Island is situated on the north bank of Harbin River and a definite destination during your visit to Harbin. The well-known Harbin snow carving art expo and competition of ice carving are held once a year on the snow and ice covered Sun Island. Visit the Yu Zhixue Art Gallery, the Russian Artists Village and the Northern Folk Art Fine Works Gallery for a diversified mix of culture and arts. Since 1906 the Russians have brought their living pattern, habits and vacation hobbies into China. The natural beauty of the Island and wild life are superb.

Siberian Tiger Park - Although run with the intention of studying, breeding and eventually releasing the Manchurian tigers into the wild, to save them from extinction, it is run along the lines of a zoo. A little depressing but worth a visit.

Zhongyang Street - This street is the only cobbled street left in Harbin. This street began to take shape as an Internatiional street in the 1920's (it was paved in 1925) . There were over 100 shops, many only by foreigners, such as Russians, Greeks, Czechs, Swedes, the Swiss, French, German and English all building their shops in their individual styles. Some of the buildings are of the Byzantine style, popular in Europe during the Middle Ages.
